Gentlemen;

Your recent letter writer, Ronald H. Mattson, Sr. is badly misinformed concerning Naamans Rd. and the Council of Civic Organizations of Brandywine Hundred and Councilman Bob Weiner. I served as Transportation Committee Chairman for CCOBH for 17 years during the period that Naamans Rd. was under study for reconstruction and testified at every DELDOT hearing about the need to complete this project on a more timely basis. After DELDOT had believed their plans to be adequate, some homeowners along Naamans Rd. felt that instead of taking land for the project from both sides of Naamans Rd. it would be better to take most of the land from one side only. This possible realignment brought everything in DELDOT’s planning to a halt and only after more public hearings did DELDOT change their plans accordingly. This resulted in forming their plans into 4 segments which further delayed the project. Both CCOBH and Councilman Weiner pushed heavily to complete this project which up to that date had been the longest project on record with DELDOT.

Yours truly,

Joseph Mitchell
